This study was carried out to determine the thoughts of university students on domestic violence against girls and its causes. Within the scope of this study, in 2006-2007 academic years from Hacettepe University and Gazi University were selected as the research universe (N=433). 200 students within the universe were taken into research scope based on Stratified Random Sampling Method. It was seen that among the students was no significant difference in the students' thoughts that girls were subjected to widespread domestic violence (widespread: 43.0%; not widespread: 44.5%). Out of the students, 34.0 % were of the thought that domestic violence against girls was inflicted by the father most.
