Ylçede halycylyk, XIX. yy'da halyya olan talebin artty?y ve Anadolu'da yeni halycylyk merkezlerinin kuruldu?u yyllarda dy?arydan gelen tüccarlar tarafyndan ba?latylmy? ve günümüze kadar da tüccarlar tarafyndan yönlendirilmi?tir. Yöredeki tezgâh sayysynda ve haly üretiminde yyllara göre de?i?iklikler olmakla birlikte halycylyk ilçe merkezi ve köylerinde her zaman önemli bir sektör olma özelli?ini korumu?tur ve halen korumaktadyr. Ylçe merkezi ve köylerinde yakla?yk 3000 haly tezgâhy, üç iplik fabrikasy, iki boyahane ve çok sayyda haly yykama atölyesi bulunmaktadyr. Ylçe merkezinde haly imalatyyla u?ra?anlaryn sayysy 30-35 civaryndadyr. Yörede tüccarlarla yapylan görü?meler sonucunda, sadece ilçede bulunan haly tüccarlary tarafyndan yylda 100-120 bin m² haly dokutturuldu?u ve Yzmir, Ystanbul gibi ilçe dy?ynda bazy yörelerde faaliyet gösteren firmalaryn bölgede dokutturduklary haly miktarynyn daha da fazla oldu?u tahmin edilmektedir. Simav, alt yapysynyn yeterli olmasy, iplik fabrikasy bulunmasy ve i? gücünün ucuz olmasy sebebiyle eskiden beri fason üretim için en uygun bölge olma özelli?ini korumu?tur.

Carpet weaving in Simav county was initiated by foreign tradesmen in the years when the demand for carpets increased and new centers for carpet production had been established, and have been directed by the carpet tradesmen until today. Carpet weaving has always kept its importance as a trade sector altough the number of looms and the amount of carpet production showed changes between years. In the county town and villages there are 3000 looms, three spining mills, two dying facilities, and a number of carpet washing facilities. The number of people dealing with carpet production varies between 30 to 35 in the county town. After interviewing the tradesmen, it is estimated that 100-120 thousand m² of carpet has been woven, and more than this amount has been woven for the outsider company such as from izmir and Ystanbul. Simav has been the most suitable area, as before, for the toll manufacturing of hand woven carpet due to sufficient infrastructure, availability of spinning mills, and cheap labor.
