Effects of inclusion of prebiotic or antibiotic to the diets containing low protein on fattening performance of japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica)

This study vas conducted to determine the effects of inclusion of prebiotic (mannanoligosaccharide) or antibiotic (flavomycin) to the diets containig low protein on fattening performance characteristics of Japanese quails. The birds were fed with the diets containing 18 % CP and 2 ppm flavomycin or 0.1 % mannanoligosaccharide for 35 days. The results showed that mannanoligosaccharides could be alternative to flavomycin for the diets containig low protein. In the present study, although there was a significant difference (P<0.05) for food intake among the groups fed with flavomycin and mannanoligosaccharide, there were no significant differences for live weight gain and food conversion ratio among these groups.
