TAX PLANNING ANALYSIS IN TURKISH BANKING SECTOR
In this study, the aim is to analyse tax planning in the Turkish banking sector. In this context, binary logistic regression analysis was performed by means of two different models by using financial data related to the banks. In the first model, tax planning of banks is determined on the basis of the cash effective tax rates, while in the second, generally accepted accounting principles are determined on the basis of effective tax rate. The findings show that sector shares and asset profitability increase the probability of banks’ tax planning by 36.1% and decrease by 3.73% respectively in the first model. In the second model, on the other hand, the leverage ratio and asset profitability decrease the probability of banks’ tax planning by 5.6% and increase by 10.9% respectively.
