Araştırma, sözleşmeli öğretmenlerin istihdam biçiminin hukuki statüsünün tartışılarak betimlenmesi ve istihdam durumlarına ilişkin sözleşmeli öğretmenlerin görüşlerinin saptanmasını amaçlamıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, Sakarya ilinde 2007 – 2008 öğretim yılında çalışan sözleşmeli öğretmenlerin tamamı oluşturmuştur. Sözleşmeli öğretmenliğin yasal olarak “diğer kamu görevlileri” statüsünde değerlendirildiği; atanmaya esas sözleşmenin açık olmadığı; öğretmenlerin kadrolu olarak atanmış olmayı tercih ettikleri; iş güvenceleri olmadığı, kadrolu öğretmenlerin sahip olduğu bazı hakların kendilerine de verilmesi gerektiğini düşündükleri araştırmada elde edilen sonuçlardan bazılarıdır.

The study is intended to discuss and review the legal status of employingtemporary contractual teachers and gather information about their employmentconditions. The sample of the study included all temporarily hired teachers in Sakarya Province during 2007-2008 academic year. Some of the results gathered from the study include: the status of temporary employment in teaching profession is reviewed as legal status of other civic employees; the teacher’s assignment contract isn’t clear as it should be; the teachers prefer to be assigned in a permanent statue and the considerations of the lack of job insurance and teachers’ requests of having the legal rights as permanent employees in teaching profession have.
