Age-Related Macular Degeneration and Nutrition
Age-related macular degeneration is the most important cause of loss of central vision in over 65 years old in developed country. Although the exact treatment of the disease is still unknown, the risk of developing the disease reduced and its progression can be slowed down through dietary intake of certain nutrients. Especially in recent years, the number of the studies showing the effect on the disease of antioxidant vitamins and components, omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids, vitamin D and zinc on the disease has increased. This review article, discusses the relationship between nutrition and age-related macular degeneration
