Bu deneysel çalışmada, Afyon ve çevresinde bulunan ve herhangi bir sektörde değerlendirilmeyen diyatomit kayacının agrega olarak kullanılması ile hafif blok üretiminde kullanılması araştırılmıştır. Blokların çimento miktarları belirli oranlarda değiştirilmiştir. Karışımlarda, su/çimento oranı sabit tutulmuştur. Üretilen numuneler üzerinde, basınç dayanımı, ısı iletkenlik, su emme, birim hacim ağırlık, ultrases hızı ve görünen porozite deneyleri yapılmıştır. Numunelerin mikro yapısı incelenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, diyatomitin agrega olarak hafif blok eleman üretiminde kullanılması ile ülke ekonomisine büyük yarar sağlanacağı düşünülmektedir.

In this experimental study, usability of diatomite rock in Afyon and region and doesn’t evaluation any where sector as aggregate in the production of lightweight block was investigated. Cement content of the blocks were changed in some ratios. In the mixes, water/cement ratio was kept. On the produced specimens, compressive strength, thermal conductivity, water absorption, bulk density, ultrasonic velocity and specific porosity were tested. Microstructure of specimens was studied. As a result, use of diatomite rock as an aggregate in the production of lightweight block element, can be think that benefit to the country economy
