Çalışmamızın konusunu İzmir Arkeoloji Müzesinde sergilenmekte olan biri Kyme, diğeri Larissa’dan ele geçmiş figürlü iki mezar steli oluşturmaktadır. Larissa steli, özellikle alınlık ve sağ alt kısmındaki yeni kırıklardan kaynaklanan eksikleri dışında neredeyse tam olarak ele geçmişken, Kyme stelinin sadece alt yarısı ele geçmiştir. Bu iki stelin çalışma konusu olarak seçilme nedeni, aynı atölye ve heykeltıraş tarafından yaratılmış bir serinin ürünleri oldukları tespitimize dayanmaktadır. Kompozisyon olarak, özellikle Hellenistik Dönemde sıkça rastlanılan çocuk-genç stel tipine uygun, ancak özgün birer örnektirler. Birbirleriyle üslup ve stil yönünden tamamen benzer özellikler göstermektedirler. Larissa stelinin tama yakın olarak ele geçmiş olması, çalışmamızın ilerleyen bölümlerinde genel değerlendirmelerin ağırlıklı olarak bu eser üzerinden yürütülmesini tercih etmemize neden olmuştur. Kabartma alanı, yana açılmış sağ elinde sapından üzüm salkımı tutar vaziyette tasvir edilmiş genç kız ve yanında kendisine bir tabak içerisinde meyveler sunan hizmetçi kız figürü ile formüle edilmiştir. Arka planda aksesuar olarak, yukarı solda asılı bir şapka ve sağda bir kithara ile sahne tamamlanmıştır. Vücut hatları, yüz ifadesi, saçının düzenleniş biçimi ve elbise tipi, eserimizin 12-17 yaşları arasında genç kızlık çağından genç kadınlığa ulaşmak üzere olan bir genç kız için tasarlanmış olduğunu göstermektedir. Eserlerimizde tasvir edilmiş hizmetçi kız figürleri boyutları itibarıyla köle-hizmetçiden çok, aileden bir yakın akraba-yardımcı izlenimi vermektedir. Her iki eserimizi, figürler üzerinde yaptığımız stil kritiği yöntemiyle İÖ 2. yüzyılın 3. çeyreğinden az sonraya tarihlemekteyiz. Önermiş olduğumuz bu tarihi, kithara ve şapka motifleri ile meyve tabağı, sandalet, yazıtlar ve stelin genel tipolojisi teyit etmektedir. Naiskos formlu zarif görünümü, kabartma alanında tasvir edilen figürlerin oldukça plastik, heykelimsi karakterleri, eserlerimizin Smyrna stellerinden etkilenmiş yerel bir atölyeye ait olması gerektiğine işaret etmektedir.

The subject of this study deals with two grave reliefs from Kyme and Larissa, now exhibited at the Archaeological Museum of Izmir. While the Larissa relief was found almost complete with missing fragments from the pediment and the right lower corner, only the lower half of the Kyme relief survives. These reliefs were chosen for this paper because they were created as products of a compositional series, produced by the same workshop and sculptor. The composition reflects the child-adolescent type, encountered frequently in the Hellenistic period. However, they remain as unique examples of this type which demonstrate similar characteristics in terms of composition, art, and style. Because the Larissa relief was found nearly complete, it led us to focus to it in terms of the general assessments of these reliefs. The relief area had been formulated with a young girl holding bunches of grapes from the stems lifted in her right hand and next to her, a servant-maid offers her fruits on a plate. As decoration, the scene included a hat hanging on the upper left side, and a cithara in the background of the right side. The figure, with her body contour, facial expression, hair and cloth arrangement, makes us interpret the figure as an adolescent female, 12-17 years old. The figures on this relief gives the impression that their relationship is a servant-maid one, rather than a slave-maid. Based on the style of the figures, these reliefs are dated here in this article to the third quarter of the second century B.C. This date is supported by motifs of the cithara, hat, and plate which were depicted as accessories on the relief area and furthermore the woman’s sandal, inscriptions and shapes of the stelae. With the elegant naiskos shape, quite plastic and like a free standing sculpture, it can be suggested that these two stelae come from a local workshop influenced by Smyrnean stelae
