Fıkıh ve fıkıh usûlü ilmi, lafız mana ilişkisine son derece önem verir. Bu bağlamda İslam hukukçuları, kullandıkları lafızların ve manalarının kapalılık içermemesine azami dikkat göstermişlerdir. Kullanılan lafızlar, olay ile mutabık ve açık seçiktir. Gizemli ve hayattan kopuk bir dil, insanların pratik hayatını çözümlemede çok fonksiyonel olmadığından, fıkıh dili ile uyuşma halinde değildir. Bu makalede, kurguya dayalı anlatım dili karşısında yer alan; beyanı ve anlaşılır olmayı isteyen fıkıh dilinin temel özellikleri lafız-mana ilişkisi bağlamında ele alınmıştır.
