Bu kitap tanıtımında Levent Öztürk’ün İslâm Dünyasında Hastaneler adlı eseri incelenmiştir. Yazar bu eserde hastanelerin Emevîler döneminde kurulduğu şeklindeki yaygın görüşün aksine Abbâsîler döneminde inşâ edildiği fikrini ileri sürmektedir. Ayrıca o, bu yapıların Hristiyan hekimlerin katkısıyla oluştuğunu düşünmektedir. Levent Öztürk, çalışmasında on ikinci yüzyıla kadar İslâm dünyasında kurulmuş olan hastaneleri devletlerin ortaya çıkışını esas alarak kronolojik bir şekilde incelemiştir.

In this review, the book titled “Hospitals in the Islamic World” by Levent Ozturk was examined. In this book, the author claimed that the hospitals were established during the Abbasid period, contrary to the general view the hospitals were built during the Umayyad period. He suggests that the hospitals were constructed under the contributions of the Christian Physicians. This research mainly explores the establishment of the hospitals to the 12th century.
