The contribution of transportation and communication ınfrastructure on regional development and an empirical study on Turkey

Transportation and communications infrastructure have been important for selecting place for firm location. While this type of infrasturucture investment makes the region attractive for private investment, it also improves the regional competitiveness because of creating cost advantages for the region. Findings of the empirical study that aimed to show the effect of transportationcommunication infrasturucture expenditures on regional revenue in Turkey indicate that this type of expenditure has a positive impact on regional revenue and even this contribution is higher within the developed and underdeveloped regions.
