The structure of the creative and cultural sectors in Turkey

The purpose of this study is to investigate the structure of the creative and cultural sectors in Turkey. In this context, we discuss the role of the creative economy within the innovation and economic growth processes. Through the analysis of location quotient, we reach the result that the nationwide economic contribution of the creative industries is already low due to the focus on traditional sectors. In addition, it is estimated that there is potential to improve the performance by shifting the scope of the creative activities to non-traditional ones which focus more on research and development.
