The Effects of Economic Growth and Renewable Energy Consumption on Environmental Pollution in Turkey

This study was carried out to determine the effects of economic growth and renewable energy consumption on environmental pollution in Turkey. For this purpose, Turkey's data for the period of 1990-2016 were examined with a boundary test base on an Autoregressive Distributed Lag Model (ARDL). According to test results, there appears to be cointegration between the variables. Besides, it was found that economic growth increased carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions both in the short -and the long term while renewable energy consumption reduced CO2 emissions both in the shortand long term.
