ÖZETÖz yeterlik hayatın her alanında olduğu gibi eğitim faaliyetlerinde de önemli bir kavramdır. Kişinin herhangi bir eylemi planlama ve uygulama gücüne ilişkin kişisel düşüncesi olarak tanımlanabilecek olan öz yeterlik öğretmenlerde bulunması gereken özelliklerden biridir. Öz yeterliği yüksek olan öğretmen, öğrencileri motive etmede daha başarılı olur. Her branşta olduğu gibi sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin de öz yeterlik düzeyleri ders başarısında etkili bir faktördür. Sosyal bilgiler dersine kaynaklık eden en önemli alanlardan biri de coğrafyadır. Sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin coğrafya konularına ilişkin öz yeterliklerinin belirlenmesi hem öğretmenin kendini değerlendirmesi hem de öğrenciye etkisini göstermesi açısından önemlidir. Bu amaçla yapılan çalışma Gao (2011) tarafından geliştirilen anketin online şekilde, tesadüfi örneklem yöntemiyle Türkiye’nin farklı illerinde görev yapan 366 sosyal bilgiler öğretmenine uygulanmasıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. İki alt boyuta sahip olan anketin sonuçlarına göre öğretmenlerin coğrafya konularının öğretimine ve sonuç beklentisine yönelik öz yeterlik algıları orta düzeydir. Öğretmen öz yeterlikleri cinsiyet, yaş ve kıdem değişkenlerine göre farklılık göstermezken, eğitim durumu ve mezun olunan bölüm değişkenlerinde anlamlı farklılık tespit edilmiştir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Sosyal bilgiler öğretmeni, coğrafya, öz yeterlikABSTRACTSelf-efficacy is an important term in every state of life as well as in educational activities. Self-efficacy that can be defined as personal thoughts about planning and applying. All those any acts of that person is one of the features that have to be embodied by the teachers. The teacher who has high self-efficacy is going to have much success in motivating the pupils. social studies teachers’ levels of self-efficacy as well as in each branch is an effective factor in academic success. One of the most important areas that constitute a source to the social studies is geography. Determining the social studies teachers’ self-efficacies in geographical subjects is very important in terms of ability to evaluate themselves and to present their impacts on students. The study which is carried out in accordance with this purpose is performed as online survey that is made by Gao (2011) and it is carried out by applying to 366 social studies teachers, working in different cities of Turkey, by means of the technique called ‘Random Sampling’. According to the results of the survey having two sub-dimensions, the social studies teachers’ senses of self-efficacy towards teaching the geographical items and expectation results are at medium level. While the self-efficacy of the teachers doesn’t differ in terms of sex, age and seniority variants, it has a reasonable difference from the point of educational background and departments that they graduated.Keywords: Social studies teacher, geography, self-efficacy
