ZİHİN-BEDEN SORUNUNA BİR ÇÖZÜM ÖNERİSİ: İŞLEVSELCİLİK

Bu çalışmada zihin-beden sorununu çözmeye yönelik bir yaklaşım olan işlevselcilik konu edilmektedir. İşlevselciliğin, hangi zemin üzerinde yükseldiği, temel tezlerinin neler olduğu, ikici, fizikselci ve davranışçı yaklaşımların zihin-beden sorununu çözmek için neden yetersiz kaldıkları ele alınmaktadır. Bu çerçevede tip-örnekleme ayrımı ortaya konulduktan sonra işlevselcilikte bir örnekleme özdeşliğinin benimsenmesine karşın, bunun fizikselcilikten ayrı bir bağlamda yapıldığına dikkat çekilmektedir. İşlevselciliğin iki öncü ismi olan Lewis ve Putnam'ın konuya yaklaşımları açıklandıktan sonra işlevselciliğe yapılan eleştirilere değinilmektedir. Bu eleştirilerin başında gelen zihnin niteliksel yanlarını ele almak açısından işlevselciliğin başarısız olmasına ise özellikle değinilmektedir.

A PROPOSAL FOR BODY-MIND PROBLEM: FUNCTIONALISM

The aim of this paper is to evaluate functionalism as a proposal for body-mind problem. In accordance with this aim, the leading texts and philosophers of functionalism are emphasized first. Then alternative attempts ed. physicalism and functionalism for body-mind problem are contrasted with functionalism. Afterwards basic thesis of functionalism are stated. Subsequently, the type-token division is subjected concerning functionalism. Later Lewis's and Putnam's understanding of functionalism are discussed. Consequently crictism of functionalism including, absent qualia, inverted spectrum and qualitative experience are discoursed. As a consequence it is asserted that, although it has a close and abundant relation with contemporary computer sciences, functionalism is lack of explaining the nature of mind.
