Çalışmada toplam 75 tane güvercinin bulunduğu 3 farklı sürüden getirilen 4 tane ölü güvercinle, bir canlı güvercinin burun çevresinden alınan nohut büyüklüğünde bir kitlede saptanan tüberkülozis hastalığı makroskobik ve mikroskobik yönlerden incelenmiştir. Burundan alınan kitlenin orta kesimlerinin kazeifiye olduğu, diğer güvercinler nekropsileri sonucunda ise generalize durumda farklı büyüklükte, sarımtırak renkte noduler yapıların oluştuğu gözlenmiştir. Mikroskobik incelemelerde bu nodullerin tipik tuberkel yapısında olduğu ve bunlarda kazeifikasyon alanlar çevresinde yoğun yabancı cisim dev hücre infiltrasyonları gözlendi. Kesitlere uygulanan Zielh - Neelsen boyası sonucunda kazeifiye alanlar çevresinde yoğun olmak üzere, bütün alanlarda bol miktarda tüberküloz basilleri görüldü.

In this study, macroscopical and microscopical examinations were made for tuberculosis on 4 dead pigeons brought from 3 different flocks consisting of 75 animals and a mass excised from the nasal region of an alive pigeon. The mass was observed to be caseified from it's center, and in the necropsy of the remaining pigeons, yellowish coloured, generalised nodular formations were found. In microscopical examinations, these nodules were found to be in the form of typical tubercles and around the caseifed areas, a massive infiltration of foreign body giant cells were observed. It was possible to see the numerous tuberculosis bacilli, especially around the caseifed areas when Ziehl - Neelsen stain was administered to the sections.
