The effect of low frequency electromagnetic fields on chicken embryo celles
Summary: The modern environment exposes humans to 50-60 Hz electromagnetic fields of significant strengths. Embryo cells are particularly sensitive to such as fields. A large amount of research has been done on the effect of 50-100 Hz fields on the embryos of fish, chicken, star fish, mice, flies and certain other animals. In this study 97 fertile hen eggs were placed in an incubator (37.5 ± 0.2°C and 82 ± 3% rel. humidity) immediately after being laid. The test group (n=62) 1 were subjected to 5 rnT , 50 Hz magnetic fields for 3 days. The control group (n=35) were unexposed. All eggs were rotated 4 times daily to prevent adhesion of the embryo to the egg shell. At the end of the period the eggs were cracked and the embryos extracted. Imprint preparations were made and stained. Cell counts in 1000's were performed of cells undergoing the prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase of mitosis. In some of the test preparations symplasic cells, a factor for tumor development, were present. As a result; the symplex cells groups have been observed in that frequency that is the criterion of the improving of the tumor.
