Determination of ejection phase indices of English racing horses by M-mode echocardiography

Çalışmada sol ventrikül ejeksiyon faz indeksleri M-mod ekokardiografi yöntemi kullanılarak transduser I ve II seviyelerinden ölçülüp ortalamaları alındı. Ölçümler sağ parasternal bölgede 3.- 4. interkos-tal aralıkta yapıldı. Yarış atlarında fractional shorteining %36.115.52, ejection fraction %62.9±7.56 olarak ölçüldü. Otuz (n: 30) safkan İngiliz ırkı yarış atında fractional schortening ve ejection fraction sonuçlarının literatür verileriyle uyum içinde olduğu saptandı. Çalışma sonucunda, sol ventrikül fonksiyonunu olumsuz yönde etkileyen edinsel kardiyomiyopati olgularının şekillenmediği, kalbin kinetik fonksiyonunun etkilenmediği ortaya kondu.

In this study, the ejection phase indices of the left ventricle were measured by M-Mode echocardiography at the level of transducer I and II. Measurements were performed in right cardiac window at intercostal space 3-4. Fractional shortening is measured as 36.1 ±5.52%, while the ejection fraction is me-asured as 62.9±7.56%.The results showed that, fractional shortening and ejection fraction values in 30 English racing horses were similar to those found in previous studies. No cardiological disorders effecting the function of left ventricle was found.
