Research Units on Pediatric Psychopharmacology and Psychosocial Interventions (RUPP) Autism Network Tarafından Otizmi Olan Çocukların Ailelerine Yönelik Olarak Geliştirilen Aile Eğitimi Programı

(Gün cel Pe di at ri 2014;2:95-102)

Parent Management Training Program Developed by Research Units on Pediatric Psychopharmacology and Psychosocial Interventions (RUPP) Autism Network for Education of Family with Children in Autism

Parent management training programme was prepared by Research Units onPediatric Psychopharmacology and Psychosocial Interventions (RUPP) AutismNetwork based on ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis). The programme aims toprevent or decrease the problem behavior and to bring the children with autism inpositive behaviors by educating their families. The controlled randomized clinicalresearch of RUPP has determined that Parent Managament Training (PMT) haveprovided meaningful improvements on childrens function and family relationships. The group of children on which risperidone and PMT have implemented togetherhad statistically meaningful improvements such as increase in adaptive skills anddecrease in the aggressive behaviors when compared with the children who usedonly risperidone. There is no such programme in Turkey for the families withchildren in pervasive developmet disorder. This paper aims to introduce and showthe potentials of the PMT programme that has been developed by RUPP AutismNetwork. (The Jo ur nal of Cur rent Pe di at rics 2014;2:95-102)
