The importance of particles on the science and technology

In this review, the particles and particles technologies which developed rapidly and have significant roles on our daily life and its historical development were stated. Mostly, the paper titled "The Science and Technology of Particle Systems" by Hogg R., was translated into Turkish with his kind permission in the text and aimed to contribute its importance in our national academia, industry and science as well. The behavior of paniculate systems in mineral processing and other applications which is primarily affected by the physical attributes (shape and surface roughness) of the particles is well known. The studies related to the Paniculate Science and Technology have been initiated by the foundation of Fine Particle Research Institute headed by the Brian Kaye in 1964. In 1994, the establishment of PERC "Particle EngineeringResearch Center" at The University of Florida by the leaderships ofNSF (National Science Foundation) has started to increase to provide to focus for particle-related education and research activities. New younger scientists and experts to ignite the passion of industry and academia in the field of particle technology are needed since many older champions are retired and passed away. By means of Particle Technologists and Technological Centers, cooperative research on particle systems should be encouraged, government and industrial funding should be attracted for these efforts, and the introduction of studies of particulate systems into graduate and undergraduate science and engineering curricula should be promoted.
