Medical geology and its relation to cardiovascular diseases

Objective: Medical geology is the science dealing with the relationship between natural geological factors and health in humans and animals. The identifying of the local geological structures, quality of soil and drinking water and the elements in those components are important for detection and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. We aimed to investigate the elements those found in our environment and are in contact with us directly and indirectly and the effects on cardiovascular system. Main findings: Deficiencies of trace elements as well as toxic exposures of metals may be involved in physiological changes in the cardiovascular systems as well as in other organ systems. Conclusion: In this article, the trace elements those influence cardiovascular systems and the cardiovascular diseases those caused by them has been investigated.
