Süt çocuğunda tekrarlayan akciğer enfeksiyonunun nadir bir nedeni: Akalazya

Amaç: Akalazya, alt özofagus sfinkterinde relaksasyon bozukluğu ile karakterize çocukluk çağında nadir görülen bir hastalıktır. Bu yazıda kusma, öksürük, tekrarlayan akciğer enfeksiyonu, ağırlık artımında duraklama semptomlarıyla yatan 18 aylık bir akalazya olgusu sunuldu ve konu ile ilgili literatür gözden geçirildi. Olgu sunumu: Daha önce üç kez farklı hastanelerde tekrarlayan akciğer enfeksiyonu nedeniyle yatırılarak tedavi gördüğü belirtilen hastanın toraks bilgisayarlı tomografisinde özofagusun geniş görüntülenmesi üzerine yapılan kontrastlı radyolojik inceleme sonucunda akalazya tanısı kondu. Sonuç: Sık tekrarlayan akciğer enfeksiyonu nedenleri arasında nadir bir çocukluk çağı hastalığı olarak bilinen akalazyanın da düşünülmesi gerekir.

A rare cause of recurrent lower respiratory infections in infancy: Achalasia

Objective: Achalasia is a rare disease in childhood characterized with relaxation disorder at lower esophageal syphincter. In this article an 18 months old case with achalasia hospitalized with symptoms of vomiting, cough, recurrent pulmonary infections and lack of weight gain has been presented and related literature has been reviewed. Case report: The patient who had been previously hospitalized for recurrent pulmonary infections, was evaluated with a computerized thorax tomography revealing an elongated esophagus and finally was diagnosed as achalasia after radiocontrast investigation. Conclusion: Achalasia should be considered among the causes of recurrent pulmonary infections as a rare entity in childhood
