17 Ağustos 1999 Marmara depreminde Adapazarı'ndaki betonarme yapılarda sıkça rastlanan yapısal hasarların incelenmesi

Bu çalışmada, Türkiye'de 17 Ağustos 1999 tarihinde meydana gelen ve asrın felaketi olarak nitelenen Marmara depreminde Adapazarı'ndaki betonarme yapılarda sıkça rastlanan yapısal hasarlar ve nedenleri araştırılmıştır. Depreme dayanıklı yapı kavramında, deprem şiddetine göre yapıda bir miktar hasar oluşması beklenmektedir. Yapı, ekonornik ömrü içinde en çok bir kez olabilecek en şiddetli depremde onarılamayacak derecede hasar görebilir, ancak yıkılmamalı ve can kaybı olmamalıdır. Bu depremde, olumsuz zemin şartlan özellikle Adapazarı'nda, deprem kuvveti ile ortak çalışarak çok sayıda can ve mal kaybına neden olmuştur. Betonarme yapıların, maalesef zemin şartları ve depreme dayanıklı tasarım prensipleri göz önüne alınarak yapılmadığı tespit edilmiştir.

The investigation of frequently encountered structural damages in reinforced concrete constructions in Adapazarı in Marmara earthquake at 17 August 1999

In this study, the causes and frequently encountered structural damages in reinforced concrete constructions in Adapazarı in Marmara earthquake in Turkey at 17 August 1999 which was called the disaster of century have been investigated. The essence of earthquake resisting building is that when an earthquake happened some degree of damage can be expected to the buildings. But it should not totally collapse and should not cause human life loss in its economical period. In this earthquake, especially in Adapazarı bad soil conditions have worked together with the earthquake's magnitude and caused loss of many lives and property damages. Unfortunately, in Adapazan, it has been found that reinforced concrete constructions were not built by taking the soil conditions and principle design of earthquake resisting into account.
