Antibiotic sensivity and plasmid profiles of E. coli strains isolated from patients

Eighty strains of Escherichia coli (E. coif) were isolated from patients. Antibiotic susceptibility of all the isolates for ampicillin, mezlocillin, amoxicillin clavulanic acid, meropenem, cefoperazone, norfloxacin, gentamicin, aztreonam, ceftriaxsone, imipenem, amikasin, ciprofloxacin, trimethoprim sulfamethoxazole, nitrofurantôin, ceftazidime, were tested. 81.3% of the isolates had plasmids. The number of plasmids of the isolates was between 1 and 7. Plasmid sizes ranged from 0.3 to 15.4 MDa.
