Bir hindide histomonosis

Ankara'daki ticari bir hindi işletmesinden 50 günlük Amerikan bronz ırkı (Meleagris gallopavo domesticus) bir hindi palazına ait karaciğer incelenmek üzere laboratuvarımıza gönderilmiş ve yapılan makroskobik incelemede karaciğer üzerinde sarı renkli nekroz odakları görülmüştür. Bu odaklardan froti hazırlanıp giemsa ile boyanmış ve mikroskobik olarak incelenmiştir, inceleme sonucunda büyüklükleri 10-19 pm arasında değişen çok sayıda trofozoit tespit edilmiştir. İşletme sahibinden alınan bilgiler, karaciğerde tespit edilen nekroz odakları ve mikroskobide trofozoitlerin görülmesi sonucunda histomonosis tanısı konulmuştur.

Histomonosis in a turkey

A liver of a 50-day old American bronze turkey (Meleagris gallopavo domesticus) was sent to our laboratory for examination from a commercial firm in Ankara. In the macroscopic examination, it was seen that there were yellow-coloured necrotic foci on the liver. Giemsa stained smears were prepared from these foci and examined microscopically. As a result of the examination, several trophozoites ranging from 10 to 19 pm were detected. Histomonosis was diagnosed by considering the information obtained from the owner, necrotic foci detected in the liver and trophozoites seen in the microscopic examination.
