A Micro PEM Fuel System with Hydrogen Generator

An experimental investigation was done to determine the performance of a micro PEM fuel cell system whichwas directly feed the hydrogen gas obtained from Sodium boron hydride (NaBH4) solution in the presence ofnickel-boron (Ni-B) catalyst. The micro fuel cell system consists of a micro pump, hydrogen separating microPEM fuel cell, NaBH4 cartridge, an oxygen tube and other joint and measurement elements. The performance ofthe micro PEM fuel cell with NaBH4 hydrogen generator was evaluated under various operating conditions. Theexperiments were measured across a fixed load (1 Ω) at different temperatures (20, 30 and 40 °C) and flow rates(0.03, 0.06 and 0.09 ml/min). The maximum power output of the micro PEM fuel cell system was calculatedabout 145 mW.
