Bu çalışmada Türkiye'de yaşayan Vulpes vulpes alttürlerinin morfolojik ve kafatası özellikleri karşılaştırmalı olarak incelenmiştir. Araştırma, Türkiye'deki Vulpes vulpes alt türlerinin tip yerlerinden ve tip yerlerine yakın bölgelerden toplanan 23 erkek ve 24 dişi olmak üzere toplam 47 örnek üzerinde yapılmıştır. Tahnitler ve baş iskeletlerinin temizlenmesi Mursaloğlu'na göre[6] yapılmıştır. Örneklerin morfometrik veriler tablolarda ve alt türlerin yayılışı haritada gösterilmiştir. Ayrıca alt türler için bir teşhis anahtarı verilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışmada Türkiye'de yaşayan V. vulpes alpherakyi, V. Vulpes caucasica, V. vulpes anatolica alt türlerinin morfolojik ve morfometrik bakımından birbirinden ayrıldıkları tespit edilmiştir.

In this study, subspecies of Vulpes vulpes living in Turkey were compared according to their external and cranial characters. Our study was carried out on a total 47 specimens, consisting of 23 males and 24 females specimens, collected from the type locality and also from the regions near to the type locality of the subspecies of Vulpes vulpes living in Turkey. The taxidermists and the skuls' cleaning were made according to Mursaloglu[6]. Morphometric data of samples were given in tables and the distrubution of subspecies was shown on the map. A key for subspecies was also given. As a result, it was found that subspecies V. vulpes alpherakyi, V. vulpes caucasica , V. vulpes anatolica living in Turkey were differ from each other according to their morphological and morphometric data.
