Deleuze and Guattari ' s philosophy and politics of desire

In a very general evaluation, it can be said that one of the most importance issues in contemporary philosophy is the debates which are turning around the concepts of identity and difference. By the same token, it can be said that, Deleuze and Guattari's analysis of desire which is connected to these debates, corresponds a philosophy and politics of desire that gives priority becoming over Being and difference over identity. In this context, this paper investigates Deleuze and Guattari's critique of classical and Freudian concept of desire that is defined as a lack of something. For Deleuze and Guattari, the problems of "identity and difference" in contemporary world depands on the philosophical and psychanalytical conception of desire. For example, according to Deleuze and Guattari, Freudian psychoanalysis is a technology that attempts to recode desire and control it by inextricably linking desire to the Oedipal complex and the guilt of incest. In this way, Freudian psychoanalysis, defining desire as a lack of something, destroys desire's free flows and encode it in capitalist life practices. Therefore, Deleuze and Guattari try to introduce a philosophy of desire that aims absolute decoding of the flows of desire.
