EUTHANASIA AS A BIOETHICAL PROBLEM: ITS HISTORY, VARIETIES AND PHILOSOPHY

This research deals with the common issue of medicine, theology and philosophy, namely with euthanasia, which has been an important problem with the development of modern science, technology, and secularisation. Firstly, it is focused on the definition and etymology of euthanasia. Secondly, some ancient societies, philosophers and the relevant beliefs of Judaism, Christianity and Islam are explored in order to find out historical views and practices similar to euthanasia. After this, the explanation of the varieties of euthanasia in respect to the ways euthanasia conducted and the attitude of the patient follows. In the later part of the research the arguments for and against euthanasia is explored. The research ends with the evaluation of these viewpoints.
