Mazurka is a genre in Polish folk dance and music. Being introduced by Mazurs wholived in Bialowieza, in the 16th century, Mazurka spread all over the central Europein a short time and reached the present day. Various composers have made a majorcontribution to the sustenance of this originally anonymous genre. Among all thesecomposers, F.F. Chopin, having rehandled and recomposed 58 mazurkas, two ofwhich were incomplete, is the most significant one. Chopin, who composed manysongs for solo piano, expressed his love and longing for his country through hisworks on mazurkas and polonez. This study aims to analyse F.F. Chopin’s Op. 24Number 1 which is comprised of 64 measures, as a Mazurka example, usingmethods and techniques of form analysis and through the explanation of all itsmusical elements.
