İnsan faaliyetleri nedeniyle doğanın zarar görmesi ve ekolojik dengenin bozulması dikkatleri doğaya çekmiştir. Doğadaki sorunların çözülmesinde önce çevre korumacı bir yaklaşım izlenmiştir. Fakat bu yaklaşımın sorunların çözülmesinde etkili olmadığı görülmüştür. Bu süreçte, doğa ile insan arasındaki ilişki biçimini sorgulayan derin ekolojik yaklaşım öne çıkmıştır. Derin ekoloji, ekolojik sorunların temelinde insan merkezli modern düşünce sisteminin yer aldığını ifade etmiştir. Bu kapsamda derin ekoloji, insan merkezli düşünce sistemi yerine doğa merkezli yeni bir düşünce sistemini önermiştir. Bu yeni düşünce sistemi, modern dünya görüşüne önemli bir alternatif sunmaktadır.

Destruction of ecological balance and damages to the environment due to human activities have drawn our attention to the nature. Solution of environmental problems initially followed an environment-protective approach. However, it has been observed that these approaches haven’t been able to solve the problems. In this process, deep ecological approach, which questions the interaction between nature and humans, has evolved. Deep ecology has expressed that the core of the ecological problems rests on human-based modern thinking system. In this context, deep ecology has suggested a new nature-based thinking system instead. This new thinking system can provide an important alternative to the modern world perspective.
