Obezite vücutta yağ hücrelerinin aşırı birikmesi olarak tanımlanan bir hastalıktır. Birçok sağlık sorunlarına yol açması nedeniyle önlenmesi gereken önemli bir sağlık sorunudur. Bu bağlamda obezite, insan yaş amını kısaltan ve yaşam kalitesini olumsuz yönde etkileyen bir hastalık olarak tanımlanabilir. Tanımla yıcı tipte olan bu araştırma obezitenin, yaşa m kalitesini hangi alanda, ne kadar etkilediğini incelemek amacı ile planlanmıştır. Aralık 2006 -Ocak 2007 t a r i hl er i a r a s ı n da Ö d e mi ş De vl et Ha s t a nes i ve s a ğl ı k oc a k l a r ı na b a ş vur a n bireyler arasından Beden Kitle İndeksi BKİ obezite sınıflamasına uygun BKİ: 30 ve üzeri olan ve araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden bireyler ile yapılmış olup n=192 , veriler araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan bireysel tanıtım formu ve Dü n ya Sa ğl ı k Ör gü t ü Ya ş a m Ka l i t es i Öl ç e ği - Kı s a F or m W H OQ OL - B r ef k ul la nı la rak b ir ebi r gör üşme t ek ni ği il e t op la nmı ş t ır . Ara şt ı r ma s onuç lar ı literatür ile paralellik göstermekte olup, obezitenin yaş am kalitesini fızyolojik, psikolojik, sosyal ve çevresel olarak her alanda etkilediği saptanmıştır

Obesity are defined as an accumulation of excess Body fat. It leads to many health problems so that it should prevent. In this context, obesity abbreviate persons lifetime and impress quality of life negatively. This descriptive study has been planned to determine that obesity is affected which fields of quality of life and how mu ch effective. This study has been carried out between December 2006- January 2007 in Ödemiş State Hospital and Primary Health Care Centers in Ödemiş, has been involved 192 patients who has a obesity to stipulate Body Mass Index BMI : 30 and over and accepted to be involved in this research. Data were collected by form formated by researchers and World Health Organization Quality of Life- Bref WHOQ0L-Bref by face to face intemiew technique.
