Daha önceleri Tiroid bezi radyorezistan olarak bilinmesine rağmen 1961 den sonra radyoterapinin tiroid bezi üzerine olan etkisi araştırılmaya başlanmıştır. Yazarlarca ilginç bulunan bu konu, toplamı 104 olan üç olgu grubu üzerinde prospektif olarak incelenmiş, elde edilen bulgular bu konudaki literatür eşliğinde gözden geçirilmiştir.
