Bulimia nervosa in males: A case report

Bulimiya nervoza (BN), tekrarlayıcı tıkınırcasına yemek yeme nöbetlerini takiben kendi kendini kusturma ya da kilo almayı önleyici diğer yöntemlerin (örn: Laksatifler, diüretikler, aşırı egzersiz yapma vb) kullanımı ile karakterize, ciddi, yaşamı tehdit eden bir bozukluktur. BN erkeklerde kadınlara göre nadir görülmektedir. BN’li erkek hastalarda hastalığın etiyolojisi, tedavisi ve klinik görünümü ile ilgili bilgiler sınırlıdır. 23 yaşında erkek BN olgusu hastalık öyküsü ve özgeçmiş bilgileri çerçevesinde ele alınmakta, literatür bilgileri ışığında tartışılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, erkeklerde BN’nin cinsiyet farklılıkları dikkate alınarak erkeklerde genel özellikleri ve tedavisi sunulmuştur.

Erkeklerde bulimiya nervoza: Bir olgu sunumu

Bulimia nervosa (BN) is a severe, life-threatening eating disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of binge eating followed by self-induced vomiting or other purging methods (e.g., laxatives, diuretics, excessive exercise) to prevent weight gain. BN is rare in men compared to women. Etiology, treatment and information on the clinical appearance are limited in males patients with BN. A 23-year-old man with BN is discussed under the influence of his psychiatric illness and his childhood history in the light of the literature examining. In this study, general characteristics and treatment of BN in males are presented, emphasizing different features between genders.
