The effect of tear f unction on central corneal thickness values in patient with pseudoexf oliation syndrome

Aim. To determine the effect of tear function on central corneal thickness values in eyes withpseudoexfoliation syndrome. Method. Fifty eight eyes of 47 patients with pseudoexfoliationsyndrome were included in the study. Central corneal thicknesses values and Schirmer, break-uptime tests were also recorded. The participants were divided into two groups. These were BUTscores < 10s, (n=27) and BUT scores > 10s (n=31). The central corneal thicknesses werecompared between groups. The participants were also divided into two according to the Schirmeras group I scores 15mm (n=31). The central cornealthicknesses were compared between the groups. Results. There were no significant differences inage, gender and intra ocular pressure between the groups (p> 0.05). The mean central cornealthickness of the group that BUT scores < 10s (517.7±33.7µm) was not significant than the groupthat BUT scores > 10s (516.9±31.5µm) (p> 0.05). The mean central corneal thickness of the groupthat Schirmer scores 15mm (522.5±33.2µm) (p>0.05). Conclusions. We found that there was no effect of tearfunction on central corneal thickness values in patient with pseudoexfoliation syndrome.
