A newborn infant with acquired methemoglobinemia after prilocaine injection

Methemoglobinemia may be due to a hereditary defect in reduction reaction of methemoglobin or structural defects such as hemoglobin M, or may be acquired due to chemical agents and drugs. Prilocaine is a drug that may cause methemoglobinemia. Here we present an acquired methemoglobinemia caused by prilocaine injection for circumcision.
