Ameloblastoma: Assessment of surgical approach and case report
PURPOSE: In this study, 3 patients who had ameloblastoma was treated in our clinic which were presented with their clinical and radiological signs. Surgical approach for ameloblastoma was discussed. METHOD: The ameloblastoma originates from odontogenic ectodermal epithelium with differentiation into ameloblasts. Conservative curettage and exicion was performed for the mandibular mass. These patients were folllowed to 11 months. RESULTS: No recurrens of the mass was observed in the following time. Clinical signs improved more rapidly than radiological evidence. CONCLUSIONS: Radical surgical interventions which include mandibulectomy and bone graft or flap may be planned in the recurrent cases.
