Nüfus Yaşlanması Gelir Eşitsizliğini Arttırıyor Mu? Panel Asimetrik Heterojen Nedensellik Analizinden Kanıtlar

Genç yetişkinlere göre daha büyük yaş gruplarında eşitsizliğin daha yüksek olma eğilimi taşıdığı ve dolayısıyla nüfus yaşlanmasının gelir eşitsizliğini arttıran önemli bir faktör olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu bağlamda çalışmada 1971 -2020 yılları için 27 AB ülkesi ve Türkiye’de nüfus yaşlanmasının gelir eşitsizliğini nasıl etkilediği araştırılmaktadır. Nüfus yaşlanması ile gelir eşitsizliği arasındaki ilişki simetrik olarak test edilmektedir. Ancak artan yaşlanmanın gelir eşitsizliğini artırdığı test edilmek istendiği için değişkenler bileşenlerine ayrılıp pozitif bileşenler kullanılmaktadır. Önsel testler yapıldıktan sonra her bir ülkeye özgü nedensellik sonuçlarını veren ve yatay kesit bağımlılığı altında geçerli olan Emirmahmutoğlu ve Köse nedensellik testi uygulamaktadır. Yapılan analizler neticesinde elde edilen bulgular İrlanda, Hollanda, İsveç, Litvanya ve Yunanistan’da sadece yaşlı nüfus artışının gelir eşitsizliğini arttırdığı şeklindedir
