Obstructive Sleep Apne Syndrome And Psychiatry

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome (OSAS) affects neurological and psychiatric systems by causing various pathophysiological changes. Recurrent episodes of apnea disrupt sleep quality by distrupting sleep architecture. Therefore, OSAS patients may have a number of neuropsychiatric problems (1). Many studies have reported that depression and impaired quality of life are seen with OSAS (2,3). In this review, psychiatric approaches for cognitive functions, quality of life, similar diagnosis, and considerations for treatment for OSAS patients are discussed.
