Avrupa Birliği Ülkeleri ve Türkiye'nin Yayın ve Atıf Performansı

Bilimsel yayınların dinamiğine ilişkin araştırmalar bilim dünyasının ilgisini çekmektedir. Bu tip çalışmaların sayısı son yıllarda giderek artmaktadır. Bilimsel yayınların etkinliği genellikle bibliyometrik çalışmalarla ortaya konulmaktadır. Bibliyometrik araştırmalarda veri kaynağı olarak atıf dizinlerindenyararlanılmaktadır. Türkiye'nin göstermiş olduğu yayın ve atıfperformansı değerlendirildiği ve Avrupa Birliği ülkeleri ile çeşitli karşılaştırmalara yer verilen bu çalışmanın verileri Essential Science Indicators adlı kaynaktan elde edilmiştir. EssentialScience Indicators farklı alanlarda ülkelere yönelik yayın veatıf verilerini içermektedir. Araştırmada yayın ve atıf performansı birbirine benzer ülkelerin hangileri olduğunu saptayabilmek için kümeleme analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Bulgularİngiltere, Almanya, Fransa ve İtalya'nın Avrupa Birliği ülkeleriarasında en üst düzey yayın ve atıf performansına sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Türkiye ise araştırma kapsamındaki tümalanlarda atıf performansı düşük ülkelerin bulunduğu gruptayer almaktadır

Publication and Citation Performances of European Union Countries and Turkey

Research on the dynamics of scientific publications attracts the attention of the scientific world, and the number of studies in this area has been gradually increasing during recent years. The efficiency of scientific publications is usually evalu- ated through bibliometric studies. Citation indexes serve as the source of data for bibliometric research. The data used in this study is obtained from Essential Science Indicators. Es- sential Science Indicators provide data about the publications and citations of countries in various fields. This study evalu- ates the publication and citation performance of Turkey and includes various comparisons based on European Union countries. In this research, cluster analysis technique is used to determine which countries are similar in publication and citation performances. The findings indicate that England, Ger- many, France and Italy have the highest publication and citation performance among the European Union countries. On the other hand, Turkey has a place in the group of countries with lower citation performances in all research fields.
