John Burton ve onun Hadisin Kökenine Dair Teorisi

Burton'ın hadis literatürünün kökenine dair ortaya koyduğu teori seleflerinden oldukça etkilenmiştir, ancak yine de Kur'an'ın hadis literatürünün oluşumundaki önemi hakkındaki fikri orijinal kabul edilmiştir. Bu makalenin amacı, John Burton'ın hadis literatürünün kökenleri hakkındaki görüşlerini tanıtmak ve sonuçlarını tartışmaktır. Önce John Burton'ın teorisinin ortaya çıkasına zemin hazırladığı düşünülen entelektüel biyografisine dair kısa bir tasvir yapılacak, ardından hadis ilmi ile ilgili ana tezi incelenmeye çalışılacaktır. Son olarak, Burton'ın fikirlerinin bir değerlendirmesi ve özeti sunulacaktır.

John Burton and His Theory on the Origins of the Hadith

Burton’s theory on the origins of the Hadith is highly influenced by his predecessors, his idea about the significance of Qur’an in the formation of Hadith literature has been still considered original. The aim of this paper is to introduce to John Burton’s views on the origins of Hadith literature and discuss its consequences. First there will be introduction to John Burton’s intellectual biography followed by explanation of his main thesis regarding Hadith scholarship. Finally, an evaluation and summary of Burton’s ideas will be provided.
