Ahmet Mithat Efendi’nin birbirini takip eden, ikisini de 1875’te yazdığı Hasan Mellah yahut Sır İçinde Esrâr ve Zeyl-i Hasan Mellâh yahut Sır İçinde Esrâr romanları, çok sesli yapısıyla dikkat çeker. Tarihsel malzemeyi kurgusal bir atmosferde işlemekten hoşlanan Ahmet Mithat Efendi, romanlarında yarattığı karakterleri ölümsüzleştirmeyi başarmıştır.Bu unutulmayankarakterlerden biri de Orta Doğu, Avrupa ve Afrika’da gezerek ajanlık yapan, iç karışıklıklar yaratarak ülke iktidarlarını dönüştürmeyi planlayan ve gerçek adı Domingo BadiaYLeblich olan DominicoBadia’dır. Fenelon’unTelemak ve Alexander DumasPere’inMonte Cristo Konturomanlarından ilham alan Ahmet Mithat Efendi, protagonist olan Hasan Mellâh vasıtasıyla bir yandan Telemakhos’un yerli biçiminiortaya koyarken bir yandan daDominicoBadia’nın takibi sayesinde Avrupa, Afrika ve Orta Doğu’daki siyasal mücadeleleri romanına taşır. Romanın antagonisti olan Domingo Badia Y Leblich’in, Yeni Osmanlılar cemiyetine ilham kaynağı olanCarbonari cemiyetine üye olması araştırmamızın çekirdeğini oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmamızda romanın fiksiyonelniteliğinigöz önünde tutarakCarbonari cemiyetinin yapısını ve romancının bu cemiyete bakışını değerlendireceğiz.

Hasan Mellah yahut Sır İçinde Esrâr and Zeyl-i Hasan Mellâh yahut Sır İçinde Esrâr written by Ahmet Mithat Efendi in 1875 are the first samples of Turkish literature. They are poliphonic novels. Ahmet Mithat Efendi who likes to handle historical material at fictional atmosphere has managed to immortalize characters created by him in his novels. DominicoBadia who sereal name is Domingo Badia Y Leblich is one of these memorable characters that makes spying by travel and plans to transform the country’s rulings by creating internal chaos. Inspired byFenelon’s Telemaque and Alexander Dumas Pere’s The Count of Monte Cristo novels, Ahmet Mithat Efendi puts forth the native form of Telemakhos by protagonist Hasan Mellah, on the other hand, carries political struggles in Europe, Africa and Middle East to his novel thanks to the pursuit of Domingo Badia Y Leblich. He is the antagonist of the novel and he is a member of Carbonari community, which is the inspiration source of Yeni Osmanlılar community, according to the historic sources. Domingo Badia Y Leblich’s being a member of Carbonari will form the focus of our study. In our work, we will assess the structure of Carbonari community and the view of the novelist to this community by taking into considerationof the functional property of the novel.
