Sevdalinka, Ayşe Kulin’in bizzat kendisinin misyon romanlarından saydığı ve Boşnakların, Sırpların katliamına maruz kalmasını dramatik bir kurgu içinde anlattığı belgesel nitelikli tarihî bir romanıdır. Roman adını, Boşnak kültürünün önemli yapı taşlarından olan sevdalinka kavramından almaktadır. Bu çalışma, yazarın bir metafor olarak kullandığı sevdalinka kavramına, roman boyunca ve romanın bütünlüğü içinde hangi anlamları yüklediğinin sorgulanması üzerine inşa edilmiştir. Ayrıca, bu kavramın Boşnak kültürü içindeki yerine çalışmanın başlangıç kısmında kaynaklardan hareketle ayrıntılı biçimde yer verilmiştir. Böylelikle sevdalinkanın asıl anlamı ile romandaki karşılığı eşleştirilmiş; kavramın, metafor olarak kullanılsa bile anlam boyutu ile deforme edildiği tespit edilmiştir

Sevdalinka is a documentary, historical novel which is regarded by Ayşe Kulin as one of her mission novels in person and in which she narrates the event that the Bosniaks were exposed to the massacre by Serbs in a dramatic fiction. The novel takes its name from the concept of sevdalinka which is one of the important foundations of the Bosnian culture. This study is based on examining which meanings the author attributed to the concept of sevdalinka, which was used by the author as a metaphor, during the novel and within its integrity. Moreover, the importance of this concept in the Bosnian culture was also explained thoroughly in the introduction section of the study by using references. Therefore, the original meaning of sevdalinka and its connotations used in the novel were matched, and it was found that although the concept was used as a metaphor, it was deformed with the aspect of meaning
