Hemodiyaliz hastalarında Staphylococcus aureus burun taşıyıcılığı ve suşların antibiyotik direnci

Staphylococcus aureus infeksiyonları hemodiyaliz hastalarında en önemli morbidite ve mortalite nedenlerinden biri olmayı sürdürmektedir. Bu çalışmada Manisa bölgesinde hemodiyalize giren 94 hemodiyaliz hastasında ve 50 kontrolde S.aureus burun taşıyıcılığı ve izole edilen suşlarda metisilin direncinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Hemodiyaliz hastalarının 31 (% 33)'inde S.aureus burun taşıyıcılığı saptanırken kontrol grubunun 8 (% 16)'inde saptanmıştır (p0.05).

Nasal Staphylococcus aureus carriage in hemodialysis patients and antibiotic resistance of the strains

Staphylococcus aureus infections remain a major cause of morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis patients. The purpose of this study was to determine the rates of nasal carriage of S.aureus and methicillin resistant S.aureus (MRSA) in the hemodialysis patients and in a control group in Manisa. Hemodialysis patients (n=94) and control group (n=50) were included in the study. Nasal S.aureus carriage was found in 31 (33 %) hemodialysis patients and in 8 (16 %) of the control group (p< 0.05). Nasal carriage of MRSA was detected in 10 (11 %) of the hemodialysis group, compared to one (2 %) in the control group but, probably due to small numbers, this difference was found insignificant (p>0.05).
