Hipotiroidi ve hipertiroidide preoperatif değerlendirme ve anestezi güvenliği

Tiroit bezi hastalıklarına oldukça sık rastlanır. Hipotiroidizm ve hipertiroidizm nedeniyle tiroit hastalan anesteziye gereksinim duyabilirler. Kontrol altındaki hipo ve hipertirodizm anestezist için sorun oluşturmazken, kontrol altında olmayan miksödem ile hipertiroidizm, özellikle acil cerrahi varlığında problem olmaktadır. Tiroit cerrahisi sırasında anesteziyolog hava yolu sorunlarıyla karşı karşıya kalabilir. Eğer anesteziyologlar hastanın gerçek durumunu preoperatif vizitte ortaya koyabilirlerse, anestezi planı daha güvenli yapılabilir.

Preoperative evaluation of thyroid diseases

Disease of the thyroid gland is widespread. Thyroid diseases that have anesthetic inference include hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism requiring thyroidectomy. Patients with uncontrolled myxoedema, or those with uncontrolled hyperthyroidism presenting as an emergency, are at significant risk. Anaesthesia for thyroidectomy may be complicated by difficult airway managements. For these reasons anaesthesist should, therefore, pay particular attention to preoperative evaluation of the airway and should be able to deal with acute airway complications in the perioperative period.
