Kaunos'un Erken Bizans Dönemi cam buluntuları

Karia kenti olan Kaunos'ta yapılan kazılar sonucunda, kentin Bizans Dönemi hakkında bilgi veren cam buluntular ele geçmiştir. Toplam 100 parçadan oluşan cam grubunun büyük bir kısmını kadehler, ikinci büyük grubunu kandiller ve geriye kalan bölümünü ise çeşitli masa kapları oluşturmaktadır. Değerlendirilen parçaların içinde, Erken Bizans Dönemi'ni yansıtan tipik formların yanında, huni ağızlı şişe ya da konik gövdeli kandiller gibi Geç Roma Dönemi cam geleneğinin devamı niteliğindeki formlar da yer almaktadır.

Early Byzantine glass finds from Caunos

Excavations carried out in Caunos in Caria have yielded important glass finds which shed light on the Early Byzantine period of the city. The assemblage comprises about a hundred individual pieces among which goblets represent the majority. Lamps seem to be secondary largest group while the rest includes other table vessels. Among the evaluated pieces, besides typical well known forms of the Early Byzantine Period, such as lamps and goblets, other forms par-excellence, bottles with funnel mouth and conical lamps appear to have been produced as continuation of Late Roman glass tradition.
