KARAHAYIT (AIOLIS) ARKEOLOJİK ARAŞTIRMALARI VE OLASI BİR AÇIK HAVA KUTSAL ALANI

Karahayıt1, İzmir ili, Aliağa ilçesi, Güzelhisar Mahallesi sınırları içerisinde yer almaktadır. 2018 yılından itibaren söz konusu mevkiiyi de içine alan geniş bir alanda tarafımızca Tisna Antik Kenti ve Yakın Çevresi başlıklı bir arkeolojik yüzey araştırması projesi hayata geçirilmiş, bu kapsamda kentin yakın çevre-sinde de incelemeler gerçekleştirilmektedir. Araştırma sahasında yer alan Güzelhisar Mahallesi incelemeleri esnasında Karahayıt Mevkii ziyaret edilmiştir. Burada tespit edilen buluntular aracılığıyla Karahayıt Mev-kii’nin Geç Arkaik Dönem’den başlayarak öncelikle bir kutsal alan olarak değerlendirildiği düşünülmektedir. Alanın Roma Dönemi’nde bir çiftlik ya da işlik alanı olarak kullanılmış olabileceği ve daha sonra Geç Bizans Dönemi’nde ise küçük bir nekropol alanı içerisinde kalmış olduğuna inanılmaktadır.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL WORKS IN KARAHAYIT (AIOLIS) AND A POSSIBLEOPEN AIR SANCTUARY

Karahayıt is located within the borders of Güzelhisar District of Aliağa of İzmir province. Since 2018, an archaeological survey project titled Ancient Tisna and Its Clouse Surrounding has been im-plemented by us in a wide area including the said location. As a result of the examinations, Karahayıt Site visited during the surveys of Güzelhisar Neighborhood in the research area. It’s thought by the examina-tions identified here indicate that Karahayıt Site was first considered as a sacred area starting from the Late Archaic Period. It’s believed that the area could have been settled as a farm or workshop during the Roman Period, and later remained within a small necropolis area during the Late Byzantine Period.
