Use of ridits to analyze organoleptic scores
Organoleptic tests, aiming to determine consumer preferences, are frequently used to evaluate agricultual products. Although, it raises problems in statistical analysis to measure responses in ordinal scale. Chisquare test causes to lose the advantage of ordinal scale while t-tests and ANOVA require more assumptions which can not be met. Ridit analysis was proposed as a method to compare groups using ordinal data. The method, based on a type of probability transformation, also has an advantage of being distribution-free. In this paper, general acceptability scores of lamb meat from Morkaraman, İvesi and Tushin breeds are compared using ridit analysis.
