Erişkin DEHB ve bağlanma biçimi ilişkisi

Amaç: Bakım verenle sağlıklı olmayan bağlanmanın çocuklarda dikkat eksikliği hiperaktivite bozukluğu (DEHB) gelişimi ile ilişkili olduğu literatürde yinelenen bir bulgudur. Buna karşılık, bağlanma biçimi ile erişkin dönem DEHB ilişkisi ve DEHB’nin erişkin döneme sürmesinde bağlanma örüntüsünün rolü henüz araştırılmamış bir konudur. Çalışmamız bu iki konuyu araştırmayı amaçlamıştır. Yöntem: DEHB’li çocukların anne-babaları, çocukluk çağı (asemptomatik DEHB, s=73) ve erişkin dönem DEHB (semptomatik, s=64) tanıları konan ve yaşam boyu tanı konmayan (kontrol grubu, s=117) şeklinde gruplandırılarak, erişkinlerde özellikle duygusal eş ile bağlanma özel-liklerini değerlendiren Erişkin Bağlanma Ölçeği aracılığıyla karşılaştırılmışlardır. Bulgular: Kontrol grubu ile asemptomatik DEHB grubu arasında bağlanma biçimleri arasında fark bulunmazken, semptomatik DEHB grubu-nun her iki gruba göre güvensiz bağlanma biçimi ile anlamlı derecede daha fazla ilişkili olduğu bulunmuştur. Ek olarak, güvensiz bağlanma biçimine sahip bireylerin, hastalıklarının erişkin dönemde sürme oranı, güvenli bağlan-ma biçimine sahip olanlara göre anlamlı derecede yüksek bulunmuştur. Tartışma: DEHB’li erişkinler, hastalığa sahip çocuklara benzer şekilde yüksek oranda güvensiz bağlanma biçimine sahiptir. Ayrıca yaşamın erken dönemlerinde oluşan güvensiz bağlanma biçimi DEHB’li bireylerde hastalığın çocukluktan erişkinliğe sürmesi için bir risk etkeni özelliği taşıyabilir. Ancak, erişkin ve çocukların bağlanmaları kendi dönemlerine özgü özelliklere sahiptir ve bu açıdan buna uygun araçlarla değerlendirilmeleri daha uygun olabilir.

The relationship of adult ADHD and attachment style

Objective: It is a reated finding in literature that insecure attachment with caregiver is associated with the devel-opment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children. However, the relationship between attach-ment style with adult ADHD and the progression of disease to adulthood is an issue which hasn’t yet researched. This study aimed to investigate these issues. Methods: Parents of children with ADHD are grouped as who take the ‘only childhood ADHD’ (asymptomatic ADHD, n=73) and ‘adulthood ADHD’ (symptomatic ADHD, n=64) diag-nosis and who doesn’t take ADHD diagnosis (control group, n=117). These groups are compared through the Adult Attachment Scale, which evaluates especially the attachment properties with the romantic partner in adults. Results: Although the significant no difference between the control group and asymptomatic ADHD group, it is found that the symptomatic ADHD group was significantly related with insecure attachment compared to both groups. In addition, the persistence rate of disease to adulthood in individuals with insecure attachment style was significantly higher those with secure attachment style. Conclusion: In our study, the adults diagnosed with ADHD, similar to the literature findings on children with ADHD, have a high rate of insecure attachment style. Be-sides, the insecure attachment which occurs early in life can be a risk factor for individuals with ADHD in persist-ence of disease from childhood to adulthood. However, attachment in adulthood has the features specific to this period and it should be evaluated by appropriate means.
