Prevention of Surgical Site Infections During The Operative Process Maintain of Normothermia
It is considered normothermic that a healthy individual's body temperature is 36-37.7 ̊C. Hypothermia and related complications can develop frequently in cases where normothermin can not be sustained. Especially surgical site infections, delays in wound healing, hemorrhage, cardiac problems, and prolonged hospital stay are among these complications. There are many risk factors that prevent the maintenance of normothermia in a surgical patient. The normothermia can be maintained in the perioperative period by using active or passive heating methods suitable for the body temperature of the patient, and the formation of hypothermia can be prevented. In this process, nurses should be able to ensure the safety of the patient by identifying risk factors and performing close monitoring of the patient. In addition, maintenance of normothermia, use of evidence-based practices in the prevention of hypothermia and surgical site infections may be indicative for nurses
